Calvary is located in Central Massachusetts, 45 Miles west of Boston (see map). Our rural setting encourages a reflective atmosphere. Our beautiful acreage offers broad lawns and gardens for quiet walks. Lovely Dean Park and the historic General Artemus Ward Homestead are a half-mile walk from our grounds.

Travel by Bus or Train:

• Greyhound and Peter Pan Bus line serve Worcester. A taxi from a bus terminal in Worcester to Calvary in Shrewsbury is about $17.00.
• Amtrak goes through Worcester.

Travel by Air:

• Both Logan (Boston) and T.F. Green (Providence) airports are conveniently located less than an hour drive from the retreat center.
• Transportation from either airport can be arranged through Knight's (www.knightsairportlimo.com) and Worcester Airport Limousine (www.wlimo.com). Their vans service both airports.
  

From the WEST/SOUTH (CT, NY and Beyond):

• Get to Route 290 which passes through Worcester, by way of Route 395 from Connecticut, or the MASSACHUSETTS TURNPIKE (Route 90).
• Route 395 becomes Route 290. From the Mass Pike (90) it is the Auburn/Worcester Exit, #10. As you come out of the toll booth on the Mass Pike, bear left, until you are on Route 290 into Worcester.
• Continue through Worcester.
• After you pass the downtown Worcester area, stay in the middle lane, so not to be caught in the Route 190 up-ramp.
• Follow 290 East to Exit #23 (Route 140 South, Shrewsbury).
• Follow the capped directions below:*

From the NORTH/WEST (Western MA, NY, Vermont, Canada):

• If coming by way of Route 2 in Massachusetts, follow it to Route 190 South to Route 290 East to Exit #23 (Route 140 South, Shrewsbury).
• Note: the 290 East entrance ramp is a left lane entrance from 190 immediately after the Greendale Mall landmark on the left.
• Follow the capped directions below:*

From the NORTH/EAST (NH, Maine):

• Follow Route 495 South to Route 290 West toward Worcester
• Take Exit #23 (Route 140 South, Shrewsbury).

From the SOUTH/EAST (Boston, Cape Cod, Rhode Island):

• Take 495 North to 290 West toward Worcester to Exit #23 (Route 140 South, Shrewsbury).

*FROM ROUTE 290, FOLLOW ROUTE 140 SOUTH ALL THE WAY TO THE FIRST SET OF LIGHTS, WHICH WILL BE THE CENTER OF SHREWSBURY. AT THE LIGHTS, TAKE LEFT ON TO MAIN STREET, AND GO TO THE NEXT SET OF LIGHTS, TURN RIGHT ON TO SOUTH STREET. (CENTRAL CREDIT UNION IS ON THE CORNER.) CALVARY RETREAT CENTER WILL BE 1/4 MILE DOWN ON THE LEFT SIDE OF SOUTH STREET. THERE ARE TWO ENTRANCES - TAKE EITHER.

For those of you familiar with the Central Massachusetts area, the map below will help you find Calvary by local routes.

For those of you traveling down Route 9 West, take a right at the light at the junction of South Street and Route 9. RAGSDALE SUPER CAR STORE will be on the opposite corner of Route 9. If you are traveling Route 9 East, at the same intersection, take a left. Calvary is one mile down South Street, on the right.

Please Note: Route 290 through Worcester is often heavily patrolled. The SPEED LIMIT OF 50 MPH is strictly enforced.
